Appreciation Fest history

Back in the 20th Century, musicians in Southern Kentucky joined together with local businesses to put on the annual Appreciation Fest. To show appreciation to those who supported them throughout the year. Funds raised went to charity. The date was always the Sunday after Derby Day. The location was Beech Bend Park.
It quickly became the largest musical event of the year and was the focal event of the Southern Kentucky music scene. A celebration of our music and a gathering of the tribes. Crowds grew to the many thousands, national artists were brought in. A canoe race was held. It was quite a scene. (we're leaving out part of the history because the Appreciation Fest is now a family event)
After Beech Bend was repeatedly sold, the Appreciation Fest was put on hold for lack of a compatible location. Until now. With it's large outdoor stage and acres of parking, the WhaBah Steakhouse at 2361 Russellville Road in Bowling Green was chosen by the founding artists and their organizations as the site for the return of the Appreciation Fest, the Sunday after Derby Day, 2008.
Now.....it's time for Appreciation Fest 2009!
